Galle Traffic Police Are Being Disgraced...

A court ruling has revealed an irresponsible act committed by a group of Galle Police officers on May 14, 2025, targeting a group of Army Intelligence officers who were on their way to the Boossa camp after completing their surveillance duties in a Vesak zone in Galle city.

While the Army Intelligence officers were on their way to the camp in a three-wheeler belonging to the Army after completing their surveillance duties, a police team including Police Sergeant Kithsiri of the Galle District Traffic Division issued a fine for the three-wheeler for not having a revenue license.

At that time, the Army informed the relevant police officers of the legal documents related to the Gazette dated July 8, 1955 regarding Army vehicles, but they reportedly ignored the documents.

The next day, on May 15, the Army informed Chief Inspector Sujeewa, OIC Jayaweera and the then Galle SSP Seram about this fine, but these police officers also ignored the Army's presentation in an arrogant manner.

However, on June 17, 2025, the Galle Police filed a case against the Army in the Galle Magistrate's Court, and after 06 hearings, its verdict was announced on September 07, 2026.

The Magistrate also confirmed that according to the orders of the Motor Transport Commissioner and the Gazette dated July 08, 1955, Army vehicles do not require revenue licenses.
