Businessman Shafter's killer is a minister's son...?

Information is emerging that the son of a powerful minister in the then government is behind the murder of businessman Dinesh Shafter, who was murdered at the Borella Public Cemetery in Colombo on December 15, 2022, according to unofficial sources.

The same unofficial sources further state that information is being revealed that the minister's son had borrowed a large amount of money from the murdered businessman Dinesh Schafter.

Dinesh Schafter was found in his car with serious injuries on December 15, 2022 and later died.

In the early stages of the case, the possibility of suicide was also investigated, and the relevant facts were also presented to the court. However, that was not the final conclusion.

Various expert opinions were presented to the court during the course of the case.  Some medical and forensic analyses also discussed the possibility of suicide.

However, a panel of five independent medical experts who were later appointed reviewed all the medical and scientific evidence. The panel concluded that the death could not be explained as a suicide based on the evidence received and was more consistent with a murder.

Taking into account the report, the court ordered the CID to proceed with the investigation as a murder investigation.

What made this case so complex was that although there was a strong medical opinion that the death was a murder, there was not enough evidence publicly available to identify the person who committed it.

Meanwhile, various speculations have been made on social media and in various media outlets about the people responsible for the murder, none of them have yet been confirmed by the court.
