Another SJB underworld figure arrested..

Amit Chathuranga Samaranayake alias Chutte, a member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya party and the opposition leader of the Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha, has been arrested by the police on charges of illegally possessing a repeater-type firearm.

It is revealed that the firearm was seized based on a tip-off received by the police from an underworld activist.

The police are currently investigating whether this person, who is a close associate of SJB MP Gayantha Karunathilaka from the Galle district, was involved in underworld crimes.

A few months ago, Singer Kosala, who served as the coordinating secretary of MP Gayantha Karunathilaka, was also shot dead in Ambalangoda town.

 Police investigations revealed that Singer Kosala was murdered as a result of a conflict between two underworld gangs. It was also revealed that the murdered Singer Kosala had connections with an underworld activist named Ahungalle Loku Patty against Karandeniya Sudda.
